Inquiry About Tourist Visa Process for Afghan Citizen

By MOHAMMAD SHABIR QATEH

Hello,

I hope you are doing well.

I would like to inquire about the visa process for my wife, who is an Afghan citizen currently residing in Kabul, Afghanistan. We are planning for her to travel to Turkey for a short visit so we can meet there, as I am currently living in the United States.

I have not seen my wife for almost three years, so this visit is very important for us.

I would appreciate your guidance on the following:

What type of visa she should apply for (tourist/short-term visit)?
What are the required documents for Afghan applicants?
Where should she submit her application (embassy or visa application center)?
Is it possible to apply directly without using a travel agency?
What is the official visa fee?
What is the estimated processing time?
Are there any additional requirements or considerations for Afghan citizens?
Can I provide an invitation letter and supporting documents from the United States to support her application?

We want to make sure we follow the correct process and avoid unnecessary agency fees.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Shabir

Turkish Visa questions: "Valid Until" date vs "Duration of Stay", AND e-Visa airline restrictions for Egyptians? Need real experiences!

By Ahmed

Hi,

My wife and I are Egyptian nationals (UAE residents) holding multiple-entry Turkish sticker visas. Our two young kids are traveling on Turkish e-Visas. We have a family trip planned, but we just realized we might have two major logistical issues.

Issue 1: Sticker Visa "Expiry Date" vs. "Duration of Stay"

Arrival in Istanbul: May 11

Planned Departure: June 1 (3-week trip)

Parents' Sticker Visa "Valid Until" Date: May 12

"Duration of Stay" on Visa: 30 Days

I know that for the US, as long as you arrive before the visa expires, you are allowed to stay for the duration the officer grants you at the border. However, I’ve heard that Turkey strictly follows the Schengen rule, meaning the "Valid Until" date (May 12) is the absolute final day you can legally be in the country, completely canceling out the 30-day duration of stay.

Issue 2: e-Visa Airline Restrictions (Gulf Air)
To make things more complicated, we are looking at booking our flights with Gulf Air. The official rules for Egyptian citizens using a Turkish e-Visa state that they must travel with specific approved airlines (Turkish Airlines, Pegasus, EgyptAir, or Air Cairo). Gulf Air is not on this list.

My questions for anyone who has experienced this:

For the sticker visas: If we land on May 11, will immigration only allow us to stay for 1 day, or do they grant the full 30 days starting from the date of entry?

If the expiry rule is strict, will the airline even let us board the flight in Dubai knowing our visa expires the next day? Should we just cut our losses and apply for brand new sticker visas right now before the trip?

For the e-Visas: How strict is the airline restriction in practice? Will Gulf Air deny boarding to our kids in Dubai because they have Turkish e-Visas and Gulf Air isn't an "approved" airline for Egyptian e-Visa holders?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Clarification on Turkey e-Visa Supporting Document

By Kamakshi

I am an Indian passport holder currently living in the UK. My physical BRP card expired on 31 December 2024, and I now hold a UK eVisa accessed via a share code.

I would be grateful if you could clarify the following in relation to my Turkey e-Visa application:

When asked to select the type of supporting document, should I choose BRP or Visa?

For the document number, should I enter my expired BRP number together with the expiry date of my current UK eVisa, or should I enter my current share code number and the expiry date of my current UK permission?

I would appreciate your guidance so that I can complete the application correctly.

Kind regards,
Kamakshi

Eligibility for Turkey eVisa – Refugee Travel Document Holder (Italy)

By Kamal

Hello,

I would like to travel to Turkey for a medical procedure, and I need clarification on my visa eligibility.

I am currently residing in Italy and I hold an Italian travel document for refugees. My nationality is Afghan, and I do not have a valid Afghan passport.

I would like to understand:

- Am I eligible to apply for a Turkey eVisa with my current travel document?
- If not, what type of visa should I apply for?
- What documents are required in my specific case?

My purpose of travel is short-term medical treatment.

Thank you for your guidance.
