Turkey Travel Guide for Chinese Citizens
Nationals of the Republic of China holding either an ordinary or official passport are exempt from requiring a visa to enter Turkey, effective from 2nd January 2026. However, final entry approval rests with immigration officials.
Passport and Entry Requirements
Even after falling under a visa-exempt policy, Chinese passport holders are required to prepare essential documents before travelling to Turkey to comply with Turkish immigration regulations.
Passport Requirements
- Validity: Should be valid for at least 6 months after your arrival in Turkey.
- Condition: Your passport must be in good condition with no tears, stains, or creases.
- MRZ inclusion: Your passport must have a Machine-readable zone to facilitate scanning at immigration.
- Blank Pages: It must include 2-3 blank pages for stamping to record your entry
Possible Additional Requirements
Immigration Officials may also ask for your:
- Travel Tickets to prove your intended exit from Tukrey.
- Accommodation booking confirming your stay in Turkey.
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay.
Validity & Stay Duration for Chinese Citizens Visiting Turkey
The length of stay in Turkey depends on the type of passport held:
Ordinary Passport Holders
Can stay visa-free for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. This means that in any 180 consecutive days, the total days spent in Turkey cannot exceed 90 days.
Official Passport Holders
Can stay visa-free for up to 30 days within any rolling 180-day period.
Macao SAR Passport Holders (Ordinary or Official):
Ordinary or Official passport holders can stay visa-free for up to 30 days within any rolling 180-day period.
Hong Kong SAR Passport Holders (Ordinary or Official)
Ordinary or Official passport holders can stay visa-free for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period.
Note: Chinese Official Passports include service, special, diplomatic, and official passports.
What is an SAR Passport?
SAR stands for “Special Administrative Region.” These passports are issued to residents of Macao and Hong Kong and provide certain travel privileges different from regular Chinese passports.

Keep Track of Your Stay

Currency & Payments
You should keep cash (Turkish Lira) handy as it is commonly used at local markets and small shops, while credit and debit cards are widely accepted in restaurants, malls and stores.
